PTFE's sulfuric-acid compatibility only holds in one-piece flanged construction — threaded PTFE connections are prone to leak from cold flow (creep) at the threads, per Griffco's own bulletin.
Most suppliers spec PTFE for sulfuric acid and consider the material question closed, but PTFE's cold-flow properties mean a threaded PTFE fitting can leak even though the material itself is fully compatible — one-piece flanged construction is the difference between a correct call and a field failure. Past 98.3% concentration, the natural SO3 contaminant in the acid attacks PVDF and Noryl directly, a concentration threshold a generic material chart won't flag.
