Vendor markets the Glass Ceramic Matrix Composite basket specifically for combined corrosion-AND-abrasion service (seawater, scrubber systems) — most strainer materials address one failure mode or the other, so a single-property material choice (e.g. PVDF for corrosion alone) risks abrasive wear failure in seawater scrubber duty.

Most suppliers spec 316 stainless or PVDF for a seawater strainer and stop there, but seawater scrubber discharge is corrosive and abrasive at once, and a material chosen for one property alone tends to fail from the other.
