Hayward's Mining Guide states plainly that metal ball valves are 'Not suitable in Sodium Hypochlorite applications' where the TBH-Z thermoplastic series is — worth checking anywhere a mining site's leach or process-water chlorine dosing shares a valve spec with the ore circuit.
Mining ball valves see two very different duties on the same site — abrasive slurry shutoff where AVCO's cast 316SS 100 Series earns its keep, and chlorine-dosing/hypochlorite service where Hayward's own comparison table says metal valves flatly aren't suitable. Speccing one valve line for both is how a site ends up replacing valves that were never rated for the fluid running through them.
