Which pH electrode should be used for a cyanide destruction process?
The 2764-2767 "Harsh Chemicals" differential electrode family, which rates "Better" against cyanide, sulfide, mercury, copper, and lead poisoning ions — general-purpose electrodes (2724-2726, 2734-2736) only rate "Compatible" against the same list.
What are the real pH and ORP setpoints for chrome reduction?
pH is lowered to 2.0-2.5 with an ORP setpoint of -300mV to -400mV, using sulfur dioxide, sodium sulfite, or sodium metabisulfite as the reducing agent. Lowering pH too far risks releasing hazardous sulfur dioxide gas — a real, explicit safety hazard.
